ANEED GRANT SERVICES
Kawerak Inc.’s Alaska Native Engineering Education Development (ANEED) Project is a Demonstration Grant for Indian Children and Youth Program Accessing Choices in Education (DEMO ACE) grant (CFDA 84.299A) supported by the U.S. Department of Education.
Village-based delivery of the Engineering is Elementary program services are being delivered regularly, with NACTEC’s STEM teachers delivering week-long after school programs on a rotational basis across Bering Strait School District villages. In villages unimpacted by COVID, these services will continue where safe to do so and in accordance with village guidelines.
Nome Elementary School services include after school programs, two weeks in length, delivered five days a week as grade level camps on a rotational basis. Weekly STEM special services are also available for all K-5 classes. Pre-K Wee Engineer services are being offered through Kawerak Head Start programs.
High school services are currently limited to village-based services, requested through site principals, until NACTEC residential training resumes in 2022.
