Introduction to Health Field
This course provides an introduction to basic knowledge and skills required for healthcare professionals. Topics include: basic life support for healthcare providers, first aid, anatomy and physiology, vital signs, introduction to medical math, report writing and confidentiality. Medic First Aid certification attainment is available in this course. This dual credit offering through UAF-NWC, is a two-week course taught by Norton Sound Health Corporation adjunct faculty and/or the Northwest Area Health Education Center Director.

Emergency Trauma Technician
This course will provide basic emergency care knowledge and skills for the student who will provide first emergency care. The objective of the first person on the emergency scene is to recognize the needs of the victim and deliver quality care to the patient, minimizing discomfort and preventing further complications. This dual credit offering through UAF-NWC, is a two-week course taught by Norton Sound Health Corporation adjunct faculty.

Health Aide Pre-session/ETT
This three-week training is the precursor training for all village health aides. This course is intended for graduating seniors. Students will earn their Emergency Trauma Technician training certificate, while becoming informed of the health aide training continuum under the tutelage of Norton Sound Health Corporation Health Aide Training instructors.

Certified Nursing Assistant & Personal Care Attendant
This course is for graduating seniors who have demonstrated interest in the healthcare field. Students complete two weeks of coursework at UAF-NWC in Nome, followed by hands-on clinical training at NSHC Quyanna Care Center. Successful completion of the state CNA exam will result in trainees, 18 years of age and older, receiving certification leading to workforce entry. This dual credit offering through UAF-NWC, is a four-week course taught by UAF faculty.

Introduction to Behavioral Health
Students gain an understanding of mental health and careers in the mental health field. Students will explore a variety of health concepts and earn a teen Mental Health First Aid certification. This dual credit offering through UAF-NWC, is a two-week course taught by the Northwest Area Health Education Center Director and Norton Sound Health Corporation adjunct faculty

Professionalism In The Workplace & Office Occupations
Students will learn skills to ensure success for the professional administrative assistant, receptionist, medical worker and customer service agent. Course topics include: interview skills, business manners, customer service, and dressing for success. This dual credit offering through UAF-NWC, is a two-week course taught by the Northwest Area Health Education Center Director and/or a NACTEC certified teacher.
